Collage of Rihanna

I made this collage, from top left is shows the start of Rihanna's career to the bottom left where she is now. She has completely changed her image from an average r'n'b singer with attitude to a sophisticated women, to a almost grunge image with te amo and disturbia. Her recent image with the bright red hair has tried to make her uniue and have her own style that people will follow.

A collage i found on the internet which i had already been made is the one of all her albums.

Evaluation of first day of filming

We have started are filming and although we did not get as much done as we would of liked i think we got some quality shots done.
We managed to film the shots which are in the forest, park and in the cafe. These are three of the scenes. We still need to do the ones in the house, the street, wall shot and possibly the one on the bus.

I found it interesting how actually being at the scene made us come up with new ideas and although we have still kept to the basic storyboard we have changed little things such as them sitting on a park bench.

I think we all worked well in a group; the only issue was that i am keen on using post modern conventions in are music videos, however not all the group are sure on using them as they don't believe in having them in a narrative video. Although i do understand this to a certain extent i believe they should be in there as post modernism is in everything these days including whole movies. Also it would therefore give us more of an evaluation in the coursework and also the exam.

filming day sorted

Because of a few problems with technical and people availability we have had to wait this long until filming. However we have now set a specific date for Wednesday 16th. We have got all the video cameras and still cameras rented out for this specific date. Although i wanted to have tuesday and wednesday in order to try and get most of it done in 2 days put together. I believe if we work efficiently we should be able to get a substantial amount done therefore leaving us with only a few shots needed to be done on are next filming times.
It is good to finally have a date set as for over a month now we have had all are storyboard completed.

Changes in the music industry

Now the internet has become accessible to the general public it has incorporated media industries especially music. It has made music from every culture available in most countries in the world.

Most music is now available on the internet legally via Itunes. This has made music cheaper and means that you will always be able to purchase it as they won't run out of copys as it is electronic. There is competition from other internet sites such as amazon, eMusic, napstar (now becoming legal), rhapsody. This therefore means there is competition between these websites once again lowering the price of music.

With youtube becoming a global success people are now watching music videos more often then ever before. You can easily chose what video you want to listen and watch whenever you are on the computer for free.Although it was made illegal for a short while as it was a breach of copyright.

However then Vevo came along and paid the music record labels to play the videos and make the money back by advertising products on the account. VEVO offers music videos from three of the 'big four' major record labels: Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and EMI. Vevo not only focuses on youtube but also, ipod applications, launched a channel on google television, android phones and have promised that applications for over phones will immediatly follow.

This shows another way the internet has been used successfully to make more money in the music industry and create new jobs.

All the major radio stations realised that more and more people and spending more and more of time on the internet and have all got an internet website where you can listen live on the radio and also catch up on any shows you have missed from the past week. For the radio station Kiss this is called the 'Kisskube' capital, heart and all the others also have the listen live. This has meant that they can stay in operation even if analogue radio no longer lasts in the technological age.

Therefore we can see that the internet has made a massive change to the way music is distributed to us the audience. It has made it more accessible and affordable; however the internet has also meant that it is easier and now free (as you now don't have to pay for the cd's) to illegal download.
