Leona Lewis Bleeding Love

I studied Leona Lewis Bleeding Love and analyzed it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAMUIBKGZfA

The first 6 seconds of the song are a sound bridge,. We only hear the traffic from the narrative and then after 6 seconds the song comes in. This is a convention of many music videos.

Throughout the music video the song relates to the video. The music in this video has quite depressing lyrics and a downbeat tune. Also in the music video the two main characters are separating. This is obviously meant to be upsetting therefore the sound is parallel with the video.

They're are lots of close ups on Leona Lewis' face this is showing the emotion she is giving off and how much this song relates to her. The close up could also be showing her face and that she is singing. it is cleat that Leona Lewis wants herself to be known as a singer rather than just someone who is good looking and has made it by looks as she was in the X factor showing she has a good voice.

Leona Lewis is wearing a silver coat for most of the music video. This is showing that she is the main character in the video and making us try and feel a connection with her. It could also be code for her celebrity status within the music industry.

The lyrics reflect what  happens when in the music video, for example at 39 seconds the background freezes when the lyrics say "before you not it you're frozen". She also sings in the music video therefore bringing the narrative world into the music world.

This is the video is for the song released in America and it is different from the english one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDB2XqbqeIE&feature=channel). Leona Lewis has tried to make Americans be able to relate to the video more, as there is a American yellow cabs at 1.08 minutes and 1.00 minutes. This is one of the iconic things of New york.

The flat in the video has very nice interior and the watch  on the side bedside table shows that the couple are obviously living a wealthy life. Although this view is very stereotypical I get the sense the Leona Lewis is the one who is the breadwinner of the household. She is better dressed than the man and looks immaculate compared to the man who is wearing jeans and a jacket and is the one who leaves the house with just one bag. Whilst she would still be living in the house.

At 1.27 minutes the man throws his t-shirt into his bag. At this moment the camera uses a slow motion shot. this shows emotion and adds to the dramatic effect of the video.

At1.47 minutes we get a close up of Leona Lewis and her feet and legs walking. This could suggest that she is trying to move on with her life and get away from her relationship. However we also see that she is finding it hard to move on because at 3.17 minutes she is hugging the pillow as if she wants it to be a person as she is lonely and wants some love and sympathy.

The editing at the end of the video. From 4.12 minutes to 4.19 minutes the editing is used to show the close connection between the two main characters and that their minds think a like and do what the other person has done. It shows they are almost connected
